This week Smooth Mama celebrates the most super superfood of them all – CACAO!

*2 tsp cacao *1 tsp lucuma *1 tsp maca *1 cup any nut mylk *1 tsp vanilla *2 ice cubes *1 small banana *1 tsp coconut oil *guarana optional – all *omniblended to perfection and garnished with *cacao nibs and *cinnamon.

Cacao is packed full of powerful antioxidants called flavonoids. It also contains an abundance of magnesium and iron and other essential minerals including calcium, sulphur, zinc, copper, potassium, and manganese; vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, E; essential heart-healthy fat known as oleic acid which is a monounsaturated fat; protein and fibre.
Cacao also releases serotonin in the brain which explains while we feel relaxed and happy after eating chocolate (until I realise I’ve eaten 4 squares as opposed to the recommended 1-2, then I feel terrible-ish :-0)
So, I think the message here is enjoy chocolate; as long as it’s 70% or higher cacao content, preferably raw and with the lowest % of sugar, it’s good for you!
