If you missed the first edition of ‘Your Beauty Secrets To Looking Fabulously Ageless’ with the gorgeous Janet Awe last week, then there’s a chance for you to catch up here!

The ‘fabulously ageless’ beeyoutee stepping in front of the bathroom mirror this week, to reveal details about her diet, lifestyle and most importantly, skincare routine; including those products she simply can’t live without, is 45 year old Francesca Forcolini, owner of clothing brand Labour of Love. And, in the name of ‘intelligent ageing’, she’ll also be offering her own musings on what we might all wish to consider doing, in order to ‘age intelligently’…

Fran Forcolini 1FRAN, WHAT’S YOUR DAILY SKINCARE ROUTINE?
I am generally pretty rushed in the morning, so the morning regime is condensed into a quick tone, serum and moisturiser application, never forgetting the old trusty eye cream. I have been using Environ products for the past five years; brilliant skincare developed by a South African dermatologist and targeted at sun damaged skin, so think lots of vitamin A and peptides to increase cell turnover and erase those pesky sunspots and fine lines. Twice a week in the evening, I exfoliate and apply a face mask and, if time allows, I get myself into a nice Aromatherapy Associates bath with a good book. I recently read that saunas and hot baths are very good in promoting our growth hormone so that’s an extra incentive right there! Bedtime is more serum and night time moisturiser and gel eye patches – not very alluring for the other half of the bed I know but, a good source of amusement when found on elbows or other unlikely parts of the body in the morning!

HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU STARTED TO LOOK AFTER YOUR SKIN?
When I was eighteen I had a bad case of the cheese grater head as I like to call it; a really dense breakout of spots on the forehead like a localised case of acne. After having tried all the spot related skin products available on the chemist shelf, my mum took me to a small local skincare salon where I had a course of Cathiodermie treatments using a micro current to effectively clean, heal and moisturise the skin, which completely cleared everything in a month. That pretty much opened the whole aspect of skincare and skin treatments to me at an early age.

WHAT PRODUCTS COULDN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?
Environ face and eye serums and Environ Intensive Revival Masque. Talika eye patches. Once a month, I also have an Environ Collagen Power Facial with my amazing facialist Cristina Coelho.  The facial uses sound waves and micro-current to achieve deep hydration and lift. The winning part of the facial for me is the setting mask, which covers the whole face including eyes and has micro-current conducting clips attached to it which work on hydrating, tightening and lifting the skin. The results are pretty instant and very noticeable!

DO YOU HAVE AN EXERCISE ROUTINE?
Yoga twice a week.

DO YOU CONSIDER THAT YOU HAVE A WELL BALANCED DIET AND IF SO, WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?
My diet relies heavily on veg, beans and pulses, but also includes fish and dairy in moderate doses. I also have a fruit based smoothie in the morning with a milk replacement and a boiled egg a couple of times a week. A fave at the moment is smashed avocado on Sourdough toast. I also have a very generous glass of red wine every night with my dinner 😉

DO YOU TAKE ANY SUPPLEMENTS AND IF SO, WHAT ARE THEY?
I take turmeric capsules which are great anti-inflammatories for the intestinal tract and pro collagen capsules for the skin.

TO WHAT DO YOU ATTRIBUTE YOUR YOUTHFUL LOOKS?Fran Forcolini 4
Probably a sum of things, including not paying much notice to the changing number next to my name, being in a creative job which keeps me connected to fashion, music and the arts in general, which in turn helps maintain a youthful frame of mind and vision. Going out for a proper dance and shaking it all off is a great way of turning the clocks back. We usually get our dancing shoes on a couple of times a year and keep in training with some rug raving at home in between 😉

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR ‘INTELLIGENT AGEING’?
Yes! An open attitude to others and life in general; maintaining a curious and active mind while cultivating personal interests; being able to put love out there, as well as welcoming it back into our lives – this is the most transformative energy; it radiates, regenerates and prolongs life 🙂

Fran, thanks for sharing ‘Your Beauty Secrets’ with Zodleblog… x
