We all know how good vitamin C is for us right? I mused about it’s health benefits here and Bex, Zodleblog’s resident naturopathic nutritional therapist, did a little more musing about the best food sources of vitamin C here. As a powerful antioxidant, not only is it critical in supporting our immune system but, it’s also key in optimising skin health as it protects us from those ageing free radicals and boosts collagen production. This = less wrinkles and more radiant looking skin 🙂

So, when I came across Nutrivitality at the recent Professional Beauty Show in London, who were promoting a form of vitamin C so powerful, that just one 15ml sachet is the equivalent of 51 limes due to a specially developed liposomal technology, I knew I had to investigate!

What is liposomal technology? Science alert!!! :-0 A liposome is a tiny nano sized bubble, less than 200nm, and 375 times narrower than a human hair. This tiny size ensures high absorbency levels and, that as much of the active ingredient as possible, is delivered to where it needs to be.

Typically, most vitamin tablets only achieve 10% or lower absorption rate, as they are broken down by the digestive system before they can be absorbed. Liposomal technology creates a 2-layer ‘protective’ wall of special fatty acids (phospholipids) around the vitamin C molecule, so that it can survive the harsh environment of the gut, where it is then absorbed by the body. By encapsulating and protecting the vitamin, over 80% of it’s nutrient value can be absorbed into the body.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about liposomal vitamin C when it comes to the ‘intelligent ageing’ debate, so was super happy when Nutrivitality very kindly sent me a box of 30 x 15ml sachets to try. If the testimonials are true, I should be warding off any spring lurgies; looking more youthful (studies have shown liposomal vitamin C increases skin firmness and elasticity by over 30%!) and, feeling more energetic in no time 🙂

I will be musing over the results in 30 days!
