Vitamin D
With the onset of Autumn (in the Northern Hemisphere) and less natural sunlight to fill our days 🙁 it’s important to ensure that you maintain your vitamin D levels. Equally so, those in sunnier climes (where Spring has just sprung) are familiar with the slip, slop, slap routine which, whilst protecting you against harmful UV rays, can also prevent you from converting the sunlight on your skin into vitamin D.
A deficiency can lead to weakened bones, hairloss, depression, and tiredness.
Increasing your intake of oily fish, eggs, mushrooms, and dairy products can boost your vitamin D levels, but if you think you might be deficient, ask for a simple blood test at your GP, as you may require additional supplementation.
