Your Beauty Secrets is back with a bang this week as we get some tips from the gorgeous Naomi Buff; a Holistic Health Coach and Eating Psychology Practitioner who has recently launched her own range (Naomi’s Kitchen) of five superfood and adaptogen powdered blends. At 36, she’s a little younger than the previous Beauty Secret beeyoutees but, with her back story and training, she has some valuable insight into ‘intelligent ageing’; so we’ll be taking a peek at her diet, lifestyle and most importantly, skincare routine; including those products she simply can’t live withoutNaomi Buff 3

NAOMI, WHAT’S YOUR DAILY SKINCARE ROUTINE?
In the morning, I wash my face with baking soda (it’s a great exfoliant but without the irritation associated with some exfoliants), spritz with Pukka Organic Rose Water and add moisturiser – at the moment I’m using Dermalogica Active Moist but I change the brand every time I run out, which is around every six months. In the summer I always put a factor 50 cream on my face too. In the evening, I wash my face with Eve Lom Cleanser, use the rose water again and a night cream by Aurelia. I also use an eye cream by Biologique Recherche and try to indulge in a face mask every 1 or 2 weeks!

HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU STARTED TO LOOK AFTER YOUR SKIN?
I have looked after myself for as long as I can remember, which goes back to being seven and fiercely independently ‘doing my own hair’. Makeup started in my early teens, so from then I was using products on my skin. It wasn’t until I was in my 20’s that I started to really pay attention, and my 30’s have seen me get even more particular and cautious about what I put on my skin!

WHAT PRODUCTS COULDN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?
I love my Eve Lom Cleanser and May Lindstrom The Problem Solver face masque which is a real indulgence. But equally, I can’t live without my baking soda and rose water – like everything in life we have to find the right balance that works for us.

DO YOU HAVE AN EXERCISE ROUTINE?
I love yoga which I practice for 15 minutes every morning, I do pilates reformer twice a week and try to walk two or three times a week too.

DO YOU CONSIDER THAT YOU HAVE A WELL BALANCED DIET AND IF SO, WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?
I used to have a really strict and restrictive diet that I considered ‘healthy’ – I was eating all the so called ‘right’ things but I was grumpy, constantly fatigued and had awful adult acne. When I loosened up with myself and opted for a healthy relationship with food that gave me room for guilt free flexibility, I noticed an improvement in all areas. Adult acne was probably the worst thing I had to deal with as I could hide a bad mood or fatigue, but the big, puss-filled spots which covered my face were much harder to hide and this made me really self conscious about my appearance. My diet these days is 80:20 – I cook most of my food at home from scratch which is fresh, seasonal and organic; I have very little refined sugar; drink only water and the occasional glass of red wine; and eat only a little meat. I have used the years of nutritional studies to work out what foods make my body feel best and finally found a healthy balance which I love!

DO YOU TAKE ANY SUPPLEMENTS AND IF SO, WHAT ARE THEY?
I take Lumity and all of my blends depending on what I need that day. I particularly love I AM Lean as it helps to curb sugar cravings, gives me energy and keeps my weight where I feel comfortable.

TO WHAT DO YOU ATTRIBUTE YOUR YOUTHFUL LOOKS?Naomi Buff 1
My father is from Lebanon so I naturally have a slight tan and good skin, but diet and a healthy and balanced lifestyle play a big part. I also believe that a regular self-care routine is hugely important for both mind and body.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR ‘INTELLIGENT AGEING’?
Keep out of the sun, drink plenty of water and eat real food as much a possible.

Naomi, thanks for sharing ‘Your Beauty Secrets’ with Zodleblog… x
