So here it is – the first edition of ‘Your Beauty Secrets To Looking Fabulously Ageless’!

Each week, one ‘fabulously ageless’ beeyoutee will be stepping forward to reveal details about their diet, lifestyle and most importantly, skincare routine; including those products they simply can’t live without! And, in the name of ‘intelligent ageing’, they’ll also be offering their own musings on what we might all wish to consider doing, in order to ‘age intelligently’…

First up in front of the bathroom mirror, is the beeyouteefull Janet Awe; a 45 year old Communications Consultant, Screenwriter & Script Developer from North London.

JANET, WHAT’S YOUR DAILY SKINCARE ROUTINE?…
In the morning, I cleanse my face with Clarins Water Comfort One-Step Cleanser. Then I put on Clarins Double Serum, followed by Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream. If I’ve had a late one the night before and am feeling and looking a bit tired, I also use Clarins Super-Restorative Wake Up Lotion under my eyes – it works miraculously at getting rid of bags. At night time, I do pretty much the same routine – except I add Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment to the serum and mix them together before applying, plus I use Clarins Extra-Firming Night Cream, instead of the day cream. If I remember, I also use Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate – but I usually forget…. After I shower I always moisturise my body, usually using Clarins Extra Firming Body Cream, mixed with a bit of Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil.. I used to use Dove’s Pro-Age Nourishing Body Cream, which I loved – and was a fraction of the price – but they discontinued it, which I was a really disappointed about. Their other creams are too thin for me… And I’ve just started using Clarins Super Restorative Décolleté and Neck Concentrate – I’m a massive sun worshipper and I’m really conscious of getting a wrinkly chest!

HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU STARTED TO LOOK AFTER YOUR SKIN?…
I was brought up to always moisturise my body after a shower. Black skin needs good cream. I started cleansing my face, using Anne French, when I was about 14, I think. I’m pretty sure that everyone at school used it.

WHAT PRODUCTS COULDN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?…
All of the above, really… It’s taken me a while to work out the regime that works best for me. This is it. If Clarins goes bust, I’ll be gutted!

DO YOU HAVE AN EXERCISE ROUTINE?…
Depends when you ask me… Right this moment, I don’t. But hopefully, if you ask me next week, I will have. Oh, but I have started going to yoga with my mum once a week, actually. Does that count?

DO YOU CONSIDER THAT YOU HAVE A WELL BALANCED DIET AND IF SO, WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?…
I do try to eat well. I’m addicted to avocados and Vietnamese chicken pho soup. But I am partial to crispy lamb (rather than crispy duck). And an almond Magnum ice cream is great for a hangover.

Janet Awe 2DO YOU TAKE ANY SUPPLEMENTS AND IF SO, WHAT ARE THEY?…
I’ve just started taking Moringa tablets, on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Cambodia and swears by it… It’s supposed to be good for everything – skin, hair, teeth, eyes, bones. You name it, it’s supposed to help it! I’m not very good with supplements though – I tend to get in the habit of taking them for a while, before lapsing.

TO WHAT DO YOU ATTRIBUTE YOUR YOUTHFUL LOOKS?…
Aw, thank you – I’ll take that question as a compliment! I’d attribute it to my mum.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR ‘INTELLIGENT AGEING’?…
As clichéd as it sounds, I’d have to say learn to be happy in your own skin. I don’t really wear make up. I’ll put on mascara very occasionally but that’s it. People kept betting me that once I got to 40 I’d want to start wearing it. But by then I just thought – this is my face. This is how I look. There’s no point trying to be something I’m not. People will just have to accept me as I am…

Janet, thanks for sharing ‘Your Beauty Secrets’ with Zodleblog… x
