Instead of stuffing my face with more chocolate and wittering on about skincare products, this week, as the world marched against climate change, and the UK decided to add their two pennies worth to another pointless war, I’m on a mission to save the planet! Well sort of…

I recently posted a beautiful video up on FB in support of the WWF (errrrr, that’s the World Wildlife Fund; no wrestling here folks, other than the wrestle I have with my conscience on these matters!)

If you missed it, here it is – a touching reflection on the damage we’re inflicting on the beautiful world we live in. Just today I read that an incredible 1,215 rhino were poached in South Africa alone last year! And for what? Powdered rhino horn is pure keratin – it doesn’t cure cancer or any other ailment…

Author of Becoming Minimalist, Joshua Becker writes “Mindless consumption always turns into excessive consumption and, excess consumption results in more stress, more burden, more pressure to impress, more envy, less financial freedom, less generosity, less contentment—and I haven’t even begun to mention the environmental impact.

Look, I’m just as guilty as the next person when it comes to mindless consumerism and yes, there are so many awful things happening in the world right now and, whilst I’d like to solve all of the world’s problems, sadly, it simply isn’t possible.

However, I can make a donation in support of the WWF and try to ensure that the great and often very challenging work they do for this beautiful planet of ours, is able to continue. In addition to funding and managing countless conservation projects throughout the world, WWF continues to lobby governments and policy-makers, conduct research, influence education systems, and work with business and industry to address global threats to the planet by seeking long-term solutions.

So, for every ‘like’ I receive for this article, I’ll be donating £1 to the WWF 🙂 and will try to remember that we do live in a beautiful world and we do have the power to change things for the better…

Thank you…

Peace

🙂
